DTI holds Assessor Preparatory Course, Oct. 25-28

The Department of Trade and Industry – Region 7, in cooperation with the DTI-Center for Industrial Competitiveness and the Philippine Quality Award Foundation, will hold the PHILIPPINE QUALITY AWARD (PQA) ASSESSOR PREPARATORY COURSE on October 25 – 28, 2006 at Cebu Grand Hotel, Cebu City.

The course will provide would be assessors the ability to interpret the criteria; evaluate an application report submitted by an applicant organization and provide meaningful feedback.

Topics for discussion will include: Understanding the PQA; Getting to Know the Applicant Organization; Assessing the Approach Deployment with focus on Strategic Planning, Customer, Market, Analysis and Knowledge Management, Human Resource and Process Management; Assessing the Result Items; Consensus Review and Evaluation, Packaging Feedback Report for Judges and Applicant; Roles and Responsibilities and Qualifications of a PQA Assessor.

The PQA is the highest level of national recognition for exemplary organizational performance of private and public organizations in the Philippines .

The PQA was created to help stimulate local companies to improve quality and productivity for the pride of recognition while obtaining a competitive edge through increased profits and providing example to others.

The PQA is a means by which a company can distinguish itself from the rest – with the Phil. Quality Award considered a mark of distinction among quality-conscious companies and organizations.

The PQA is also an instrument for self-assessment or self-measurement, and provides guidelines and criteria for globally minded organizations of all sizes and sectors, including both private and public organizations that wish to evaluate their own quality improvement efforts.

This award was created through Executive Order 448 and was institutionalized under Republic Act No. 9013 also known as the Philippine Quality Award Act. It is now on its ninth (9th) year and is considered as an integrated management tool for organizational excellence. (DTI 7)
