Siquijor symposium on pro-active programs for competitiveness slated

In line with its thrust to make local organizations globally competitive, the Department of Trade and Industry-Center for Industrial Competitiveness (DTI-CIC), the implementing agency of the Philippine Quality Award (PQA) in cooperation with the DTI-Siquijor Provincial Office will hold a Symposium on the Pro-Active Programs for Competitiveness/PQA Roadshow.

Provincial Director Nimfa Virtucio of the DTI here said, the activity aims to promote quality and productivity improvement programs that are essential to the well-being of the nation's economy and our ability to compete effectively in the global marketplace.

The PQA, a national quality program which is institutionalized as the through Republic Act 9013 was created to help stimulate companies to improve quality and productivity for the pride of recognition while obtaining a competitiveness edge through increased profits and providing example to others, she said.

The PQA also provides guidelines and criteria that can be used globally-minded organizations of all sizes and sectors, including both private and public organizations that wish to evaluate their own quality improvement efforts.

A brief overview of the PQA will be presented and guest speakers will share their quality strategies and successful performance practices on how their organizations were able to change their cultures and achieve eminence.

The activity will also introduce DTI-CIC's Pro-Active Programs for Competitiveness, an array of training programs developed and designed to the needs of organizations aiming to further develop its human resources. (PIA)
