DTI Partners with Globe in Enabling SMEs in the Provinces

The Department of Trade and Industry has announced that the use of broadband internet facilities in ten SME Centers are available for free to SMEs who wish to surf for information relevant to their business.

This is made possible through the DTI’s Bureau of Small and Medium Enterprise Development’s (BSMED) partnership with Globe Telecom’s wholly-owned subsidiary Innove Communications.

The DTI SME Centers have a helpdesk for entrepreneurs seeking information on business opportunities and access to the services of government and private institutions.

Ten of these SME Centers have been equipped by Globe Telecom with desktop computers and broadband connections to be more efficient and effective in delivering services to SMEs.

The Globelines broadband is a high-speed Internet connection that allows fast and easy access to information on a real-time basis.

These facilities are now available at the SME Centers in Cavite, Batangas, Bacolod, Iloilo, Cebu, Bohol, Dumaguete, Davao City, Tacloban City and the BSMED Assistance Center.

Globe Telecom will also assist DTI in its e-commerce awareness campaign by educating SMEs on the benefits of broadband technology.

Now that the internet is being recognized as a powerful tool in promoting their business activities and in acquiring market information to increase market access, entrepreneurs are being given this opportunity for exposure to technology which can help them improve their viability and operational efficiency.
